Smaller kick-offs with 20 to 200 people are equally well served by numerous hotels with their own seminar rooms.

The journey from Zurich HB takes a good two hours on average, usually with one or two changes via Landquart. Davos Dorf and Davos Platz each have their own station right in the centre of town, so the walk from train to meeting room stays short. Two large ski areas, Parsenn and Jakobshorn, lie close by – ideal for anyone who wants to spend the afternoon after the conference on the slopes without a further transfer.

After years of largely digital meetings, teams want to meet in person again, especially at the start of a new year. A change of scene to Davos supports that in two ways: the working session runs in focused mode during the morning at the congress centre, and the afternoon belongs either to the slopes or to one of the many team activities on offer locally. This combination explains why enquiries for January and February have been rising noticeably for several years.

These Team Events Leave a Lasting Impression

A successful kick-off meeting is remembered not just for its agenda but for the shared experiences that come with it. In Davos, plenty of activities can be built into a conference programme without extra effort:

Ski or snowboard afternoon together in the Parsenn and Jakobshorn ski areas

Guided snowshoe hikes with an evening at a mountain hut

Introductory cross-country skiing course in the Davos high valley

Team challenge at the congress centre or hotel

Torchlit hike with a fondue evening

Curling as an easy team tournament

Travelling in on a Thursday or Friday lets you combine the conference directly with one of these activities, rather than leaving the same day – a simple addition that turns a day event into a genuine team experience.

Why Booking Now Pays Off

Kick-off meetings and leadership retreats mostly run between mid-January and the end of March – exactly the window in which Davos is in particularly high demand for congresses, winter sport and a varied supporting programme. Companies typically book their new-year kick-offs four to six months ahead. Anyone who waits until November is choosing from whatever the larger hotels have left, rather than from the full selection.

Alternatives Nearby: Grindelwald and Zermatt

Anyone with a smaller group, or looking for a different character, will find two alternatives in the same region. The conference hotels in Grindelwald offer a congress hall in the Sportzentrum for up to 450 people, with short distances between meeting room and ski slope and their own winter programme. The conference hotels in Zermatt rely on a car-free mountain village with hotel meeting rooms for 10 to 800 guests and an introductory curling tournament with a Matterhorn view as a supporting activity. An overview of other regions is available on the page for all conference hotels in Switzerland.

Checklist: What to Prepare Before Enquiring

The more specific the brief, the faster a matching proposal comes together. Before sending an enquiry, it’s worth clarifying the following points:

Number of delegates and preferred seating style, so room size can be narrowed down straight away

A date window with one or two back-up options, since February weekends with events fill up early

The preferred mix of conference and supporting programme, such as winter sport, a gala evening, or one of the team activities above

How delegates plan to travel, since this affects the choice between the congress centre and smaller hotel seminar rooms

A budget range for accommodation, catering and technical equipment, so the right venues can be proposed

The group’s leisure preferences, whether that means winter sport, wellness, or a quieter programme

These details speed up the search considerably: a single enquiry through the conference-venue agency is enough to get suitable hotels in Davos with availability for the requested date – the proposals come back bundled together, and the choice stays with you.

Extending the Trip Pays Off

Because Davos sits right in the middle of the winter season, extending the trip by a weekend is worth considering. Travelling in on a Thursday or Friday lets you combine the kick-off meeting with one of the team activities above and extra time on the slopes, rather than leaving the same evening. For companies that want to start the year with a genuine team experience rather than just a day event, that’s a simple but effective addition to the programme.

Planning Early Means the Widest Choice

A large congress with 5,000 delegates or a compact kick-off with 30 people – Davos covers both ends of the scale, with a journey that’s rarely under two hours. Enquiring now secures not just the room, but also the choice between several hotels and the combination with the right winter programme.

Planning your 2027 kick-off meeting in Davos? Send us your no-obligation enquiry, and we’ll provide matching suggestions for hotels, meeting rooms and a supporting programme – with availability for January and February.

Anyone looking for a conference hotel in Davos for their 2027 kick-off meeting will find infrastructure that has few equals anywhere in Europe: Davos Congress Centre offers a plenary hall for 1,800 delegates, 34 further rooms and 12,000 square metres in total – space for up to 5,000 participants.
